To prevent your child from contracting meningitis, Mother needs to complete her immunization according to schedule, including immunizations for measles, polio, mumps, chicken pox, and influenza. Although not able to fully protect your child from meningitis, the five vaccines can help protect his body from this virus. Also make sure he gets the Hib vaccine when he is 2, 3, 4, and 15 months; and the meningococcal vaccine at ages 2, 4 and 6 months.
